Christ the King
Saint Vincent de Paul

How our conference fits into the Society

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul can trace it's roots back to the 1830's when a 20-year-old student by the name of Frederic Ozanam was challenged with how to live out his Catholic faith. The Frenchmen gathered with other young men in Paris and developed an organized system of service.

Today the Society is a worldwide organization of lay Catholics, following Christ’s call to serve the poor, with nearly 800,000 members spread across 140 countries. In America alone local "conferences" represent 4,400 communities encompasing all 50 states. Together they provide nearly half a billion dollars in aid each year.

Christ the King Saint Vincent de Paul is one of the 28 local conferences operating within the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Denver Metro Council. We are the grass roots, boots on the ground, helping hands part of the organization.
